Dear
Member,
What are you
doing for this election that you did not do in the last Governor's
election? As you know, that election resulted in Mitch Daniels being
elected as Governor. Somehow a native Pennsylvanian was elected in
our State! Did we do our best to beat him? No.
So how do
we beat him this time? We are registering voters, attending rally’s
and fundraisers, walking neighborhoods, calling registered voters,
writing letters, emailing, and any other task necessary to support
Jim Schellinger for Governor! I don’t believe it’s enough.
We all have to do better.
We have to
make that extra effort, because we are electing our boss! A boss that
influences laws pertaining to our working conditions. A boss that
writes policy on our benefits. A boss that determines whether our
work is done by us or some OUT of state company. A boss that put an
unfair wage system in the hands of incompetent managers. It is time
we got a new boss.
We are one
of the few workers that can choose our own boss. We can elect Jim
Schellinger to make sure someone who cares about us and our families
is in the Governor’s seat! A boss that will support Collective
Bargaining legislation. A boss that will allow us to negotiate our
Health Care. A boss that believes in equal pay and opportunities to
advance/transfer classifications. Get actively involved now by calling
us @ 1-800-342-9212!

Dear Member,
Happy New
Year! I am more than happy to see 2008 finally arrive. I have been
waiting for this year since January 11, 2005.As
you all remember, we lost our Collective Bargaining rights on that
day after Daniels took office. Finally, we all have a chance to elect
a new Governor that will give us back our rights.
We will be
electing Jim Shellinger for Governor of Indiana! I have met Jim on
several occasions. He is a hard working individual that cares about
us. He is committed to reinstate Collective Bargaining for State Employees
through an Executive Order and will support our efforts to pass Legislation.
Our Executive
Board is working harder than ever with you in successfully electing
Jim Shellinger. Some ideas we are putting in place are:
Weekly Voter registrations at work, grocery stores, high schools,
fairs, and other places in the communities.
Phone banking our community.
Gathering email addresses and forwarding our message to those individuals.
Knocking on doors in our neighborhood.
Signing up on his website at http://www.jimschellinger.com/
Let us know
your committment by sending us an e-mail to 9212election@comcast.net.
Together we will make a difference!
Fraternally,
Colleen

Dear Brothers & Sisters,
The State sent out the attached information regarding our Health Insurance
coverage for 2008. Once again the premiums are too high and coverage
is too low. The need to elect a Governor that will negotiate with our
Union is even more critical now!
Not only is the Health Insurance too costly, the retiree medical savings
account legislation passed last year is a SHAM! The 501(c) Retiree Medical
Savings Account submitted to the IRS for approval DOES NOT reimburse
for self-insured health insurance premiums. The Health Insurance plans
the state is offering for 2008 are all Self-Insured. Our retirees are
shafted once again!
Our time is now! We must organize our membership and get involved in
politics. Together we will prevail.
Fraternally,
Colleen Williamson

Dear Brothers & Sisters,
Our Local 9212 is moving forward with our plan to Organize,
Educate, and Represent our membership. Our Executive Board members
are committed to work harder for you! We are actively participating
in Voter registration, re-vamping our Retiree membership list, publicizing
the Skilled Trades program, volunteering to work on Political campaigns,
forming a new and improved Organizing plan, and anything else necessay
to make sure we move ahead. We have to move forward.
We have to plan our future now. Voting and political action are our
greatest power. We have the unique ability to elect our BOSS! Not too
many employees can say they voted their management into office. I remember
one time, one of our members was allowed to sit in on interveiws for
a new Superintendent. She was so excited and proud that her opinion
mattered.
Well, I believe our opinion matters! We have to elect a Governor that
believes in Collective Bargaining, Fair and Equitable wages, Health
Care for Retirees, and Progressive/just Discipline. Get involved now.
Go to your town hall meetings, sign up to work the polls, register your
neighbors to vote, talk about the issues we are facing, and get involved
in you Union! I look forward to the future when our voices are heard.
Fraternally,
Colleen Williamson
President
Dear Brothes & Sisters,
Our Local 9212 office is not closed to our membership.
The Local does have limited access to our union hall due to lack of
staff at this time. We are checking the voice mail regularly and responding
to messages. Access to the hall can be scheduled by leaving a message
on our voice mail or emailing myself, President John Allen, or Karen
Milton, Recording Secretary.
Anyone providing or distributing information the Local is closed is
probably responding to a sign that was on the Local's door for a brief
period of time. The sign was meant to inform members and/or visitors
our normal hours were unavailable. After interpretation of the sign
was "the Local had closed for business", it was removed.
We will inform you of any future changes.
Fraternally,
Colleen Williamson

DOC
SEAC Complaints for Roll-Call Pay resolved...
There were 99
complaints filed with the SEAC on the Roll Call pay issue in DOC, the
only ones that will be considered for back pay. IF THE EMPLOYEE DID NOT
FILE, IT IS THE CONSIDERATION OF THE JUDGE he/she is SATISFIED WITH THE
PRESENT CIRCUMSTANCE.
Fuzz LeMay, Uaw
International Representative says “It is my understanding the trigger
point for starting time is when the supervisor assigns an employee to
a position. The employee should be paid from this point on. If an employee
has to report early to look at a roster to see where they are assigned
[in my opinion] this should be considered starting time.”
All employees
should not file there complaints directly with the State Employees Appeals
Commission regarding overtime. It is essential the employee file directly
with the Department of Labor. The DOL is required to answer all complaints.
Please feel free to use the Roll Call
Pay.doc to file your complaint. (Click on "Roll Call Pay.doc"
